COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – Senior Shane McKeon (Royersford, Pa./Pope John Paul II) won the 3,000 meters to lead the way for The University of Scranton men's track and field team at the Frank Colden Invitational that was hosted by Ursinus College at the Floy Lewis Bakes Center in Collegeville on Saturday.
Below are some of the highlights for the Royals at Saturday's meet.
- McKeon broke his own indoor program record and won the 3,000 meters with a time of 8:49.23, while junior Liam Mead (Montrose, Pa./Montrose) finished fourth in the event in 9:15.09.
- Senior Luke Shannon (Rockville Centre, N.Y./South Side) finished fourth in the 400 meters with a time of 53.46 seconds and freshman Brendon Arcara (Chester Springs, Pa./Owen J. Roberts) took fourth in the 60 meter hurdles with a program record time of 9.25 seconds.
- McKeon's time of 8:49.23 broke his previous indoor program record of 8:50.69 that had been set at the Moravian Indoor Meet on Jan. 22 and Arcara's program record time in the 60 meter hurdles surpassed the previous best of 9.34 seconds that had been set by Trevor Klosinski on Feb. 1, 2020.
- The Royals' 4x400 relay team of sophomore Riley Adams (Douglassville, Pa./Berks Catholic), sophomore Shervin Mokhtari (Clarks Summit, Pa./Abington Heights), junior Nathan Bowen (Trumbull, Conn./Trumbull) and Shannon recorded a fourth place finish with a season-best time of 3:39.70.
The University of Scranton men's track and field team returns to the track for the SU Invitational that will be hosted by Susquehanna on Saturday, Feb. 12 beginning at 9 a.m.
