SELINSGROVE, Pa. – Senior Jessica Hoffmann (Millington, N.J./Watchung Hills) broke outdoor program records in both the 1500 and 5,000 meters to lead the efforts for The University of Scranton women's track and field team on Saturday at the Jim Taylor Invite that was hosted by Susquehanna.
Here are some of the Royals' highlights from their opening meet of the outdoor campaign.
- Hoffmann won the 5,000 meters with a time of 17:52.56, more than 35 seconds ahead of the second place finisher in the event. Her winning team surpassed her previous outdoor program record of 17:59.23 that she had set on May 19, 2021 at the AARTFC Regional Championships.
- The Millington, N.J., native also finished third in the 1500 in a new outdoor program record time of 4:56.96 and her younger sister, freshman Samantha Hoffmann (Millington, N.J./Watchung Hills) took fifth in 4:59.70.
- The elder Hoffmann's time in the 1500 just broke the previous outdoor program record of 4:56.98 that had been set by Abigail Corrigan on May 4, 2019.
- Senior Lindsay Notarianni (Scranton, Pa./Scranton Prep) took second in the 10,000 meters with a time of 40.17.32, while the Royals' 4x100 relay team of junior Fiona Burke (Exton, Pa./Bishop Shanahan), junior Noelle Gonzalez (Harrington Park, N.J./Northern Valley-Old Tappan), freshman Andreina Solano (Monroe, N.Y./Monroe Woodbury) and junior Lauren Tokash (Coatesville, Pa./Bishop Shanahan) finished seventh in 53.02.
The Royals will return to the track for the Muhlenberg College Invite on Saturday, April 2 in Allentown.
