LEWISBURG, Pa. – Senior Jessica Hoffmann (Millington, N.J./Watchung Hills) of The University of Scranton women's track and field team clocked a new personal-best outdoor time in the 5,000 meters by more than 38 seconds and registered a 15th place finish in the event to lead the Royals on Day One of the Bison Outdoor Classic that was hosted by Bucknell University on Friday.
Here are the Royals' highlights from Friday's portion of the meet, which featured competitors from Division I, Division II and Division III.
- Hoffmann finished the 5,000 meters with a time of 17:14.24, which is the third fastest time in the Mid-Atlantic region during the outdoor season and the 18th fastest in all of Division III.
- Jessica's younger sister, freshman Samantha Hoffmann (Millington, N.J./Watchung Hills) posted a 44th place finish in the 1,500 meters with a personal-best time of 4:52.61, surpassing her previous personal-best time by more than seven seconds.
- For the men's track and field team, senior Shane McKeon (Royersford, Pa./Pope John Paul II) posted an 18th place finish in the 3,000 meter steeplechase with a personal-best time of 9:31.19.
The Royals return to the track on Saturday morning for Day Two of the Bison Outdoor Classic with action getting underway at 10:30 a.m.
