ALLENTOWN, Pa. – Senior Shane McKeon (Royersford, Pa./Pope John Paul II) broke a program record and won the 1,500 meters to lead the way for The University of Scranton men's track and field team on Saturday at the Muhlenberg College Invite.
The Royals finished eighth in the team standings with 42 points as Ursinus took the team title with 139.5 points.
Below are some of the highlights for the Royals from Saturday's meet.
- McKeon won the 1,500 meters with a time of 4:02.57, surpassing the previous program record by more than six seconds. Sophomore Timothy Lanahan (Mendham, N.J./Mendham) finished third in the event in 4:05.40.
- Fellow sophomore Shervin Mokhtari (Clarks Summit, Pa./Abington Heights) set a pair of program records in the 110 and 400 meter hurdles as he finished fourth in the former in 17.37 and sixth in the latter in 1:02.02. His times broke the previous program best clips of 17.81 and 1:02.32 that had both been set by Brian Madden in 2019.
- In the field events for Scranton, sophomore Kyle Muirhead (Massapequa, N.Y./St. Anthony's) took fourth in the high jump with a mark of 1.65m and also added a sixth place finish in the long jump at 6.27m.
The Royals return to the track next Saturday, April 9 for the Messiah Invitational.
