Track & Field Programs Compete in Heptathlon, Decathlon on Day One of Messiah Multi

MECHANICSBURG, Pa. – Three members of The University of Scranton men's and women's track and field team competed in the heptathlon and decathlon on the first day of the Messiah Multi on Thursday at a rainy Starry Athletic Complex in Mechanicsburg.

In the heptathlon, junior Jasmine Ahmed (Farmingville, N.Y./Sachem East) sits in eighth place after four events with 1,889 points, while senior Ally Maniscalco (Deer Park, N.Y./Deer Park) has 1,364 points after day one. The heptathlon will conclude with the long jump, javelin throw and 800 meters on Friday.

Ahmed finished in the top 10 in all four events on Thursday including a fifth place finish in the shot put with a mark of 8.19m.

Freshman Brendon Arcara (Chester Springs, Pa./Owen J. Roberts) sits in 14th place in the decathlon standings with 2,035 points at the conclusion of five events. Arcara recorded a ninth place finish in the high jump with a mark of 1.55m.

Five more events are slated for the decathlon on Friday with the 110 meter hurdles, discus throw, pole vault, javelin throw and 1,500 meters.

Friday's action gets underway at 12 p.m.
