MECHANICSBURG, Pa. – Junior Liam Mead (Montrose, Pa./Montrose) broke the outdoor program record by nearly a minute and won the 10,000 meters to lead The University of Scranton men's and women's track and field teams on Day Two of the Messiah Multi/Invitational on Friday.
Here are some of the Royals' highlights from Friday.
- Mead won the 10,000 meters with a time of 33:09.40, surpassing the previous program record of 34:08.26 that had been set by Sean Connolly (Danbury, Conn./Immaculate) on May 5, 2019. Fellow junior Ryan Maguire (Chester Springs, Pa./Bishop Shanahan) finished second behind Mead in 34:08.20.
- Freshman Brendon Arcara (Chester Springs, Pa./Owen J. Roberts) finished sixth in the 110 meter hurdles with a time of 17.60 seconds as part of the decathlon. Arcara registered a 13th place finish in the decathlon with 3,971 points.
- For the women's track and field team, junior Jasmine Ahmed (Farmingville, N.Y./Sachem East) finished 10th in the heptathlon with 3,012 points.
- Senior Lindsay Notarianni (Scranton, Pa./Scranton Prep) finished fourth in the 10,000 meters with a time of 39:39.05 and junior Sarah Kern (Monroe, N.Y./Monroe-Woodbury) took sixth in 40:31.86.
The Messiah Invitational continues on Saturday with action getting underway at 9 a.m.
