MECHANICSBURG, Pa. – Sophomore Timothy Lanahan (Mendham, N.J./Mendham) registered a second place finish in the 800 meters to lead the efforts for The University of Scranton men's track and field team on Saturday at the Messiah Invitational.
The Royals finished 13th in the team standings with 29.5 points as the host Falcons won the team title with 109 points.
Here are some of the highlights for the Royals from Saturday's meet.
- Lanahan took second in a personal-best time of 1:57.11, just behind Elizabethtown's Brandon Baxter who won the event in 1:57.02.
- Sophomore Kyle Muirhead (Massapequa, N.Y./St. Anthony's) recorded a sixth place finish in the long jump with a mark of 6.29m, while junior Nicholas Gershey (South Abington Township, Pa./Scranton Prep) finished ninth in the 5,000 meters in a personal-best time of 15:54.70.
- Sophomore Shervin Mokhtari (Clarks Summit, Pa./Abington Heights) finished 10th in the 400 meter hurdles in 1:00.69, breaking his own outdoor program record of 1:02.02 that he had set last week at Muhlenberg.
The Royals return to the track on Tuesday at the Misericordia Twilight Meet with action getting underway at 2:30 p.m.
