HUNTINGDON, Pa. – Sophomore Timothy Lanahan (Mendham, N.J./Mendham) notched his first career Landmark Championship Meet gold medal with a victory in the 1,500 meters to lead The University of Scranton men's track and field team on Day One of the conference championship meet at Juniata's Knox Stadium.
The Royals currently sit fifth in the team standings with 19 points after five events.
Here are some of the highlights for the Royals from Day One.
- Lanahan won the 1,500 meters with a time of 3:58.93, just ahead of Catholic's John O'Rourke who finished second in 3:59.46. Royals' senior Shane McKeon (Royersford, Pa./Pope John Paul II) finished third with a time of 4:01.16.
- Sophomore Kyle Muirhead (Massapequa Park, N.Y./St. Anthony's) took home a sixth place finish in the long jump with a mark of 6.29m, while classmate Shervin Mokhtari (Clarks Summit, Pa./Abington Heights) qualified for tomorrow's 100 meter hurdles final with a preliminary time of 17.58 seconds.
Action on Day Two of the Landmark Conference Championships will get underway on Sunday at 11 a.m.
