ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Graduate student Shane McKeon (Royersford, Pa./Pope John Paul II) broke his own program record in the 3,000 meters to lead the way for The University of Scranton men's track & field team on Saturday at the Conference Challenge Cup that was hosted by Nazareth College.
Here are some of the Royals' highlights from Saturday's meet.
- McKeon finished 10th in the 3,000 with a new program-record time of 8:42.81, surpassing the previous record of 8:49.23 that he had set on Feb. 5, 2022.
- Junior Tim Lanahan (Mendham, N.J./Mendham) posted an eighth place finish in the mile with a time of 4:33.14 and graduate student Luke Shannon (Rockville Centre, N.Y./South Side) added a 10th place finish in the 200 meters in a time of 1:59.02.
- In the 4x200 relay, the Scranton quartet of senior Nathan Bowen (Trumbull, Conn./Trumbull), juniors Riley Adams (Douglassville, Pa./Berks Catholic) and Marcus Jenkins (Brooklyn, N.Y./Xavier) and freshman Brendan Perez (Warwick, N.Y./Warwick Valley) took fourth place in a time of 1:38.55.
The Royals will return to the course on Friday afternoon at the NYU Invitational with action getting underway at 3 p.m.
