SELINSGROVE, Pa. – The University of Scranton men's track & field team posted several Top-10 finishes on day two of the SU Early Season Multi & Invite on Saturday in Selinsgrove.
Freshman Alfred Kumi-Atiemo Jr. (Stroudsburg, Pa./Stroudsburg) posted an eighth-place finish in the 60 meter dash with a time of 7.19 seconds and senior Shervin Mokhtari (Clarks Summit, Pa./Abington Heights) registered a time of 9.39 seconds for a ninth-place finish in the 60 meter hurdles.
In the sprint medley relay, the quartet of senior Riley Adams (Douglassville, Pa./Berks Catholic), freshmen William Dickson (Quakertown, Pa./Quakertown Community) and Michael Carrea (Cranford, N.J./Cranford) and sophomore Nathanael Walker (Perkasie, Pa./Pennridge) finished fifth with a time of 3:58.38, which marks the second-fastest time in the event in program history.
Mokhtari, Adams and sophomores Christopher Dertinger (Staten Island, N.Y./Monsignor Farrell) and Brendan Perez (Warwick, N.Y./Warwick Valley) took sixth in the 4x400 relay with a time of 3:42.52.
Senior Angelo Catapano (Massapequa Park, N.Y./Massapequa Park) took sixth in the weight throw with a mark of 12.62m and sophomore Aedan Potenza (Park Ridge, N.J./Albertus Magnus) finished 10th with a personal-best mark of 11.19m.
In the pole vault, sophomore Philip Danchik (Woodbine, Md./Mount Saint Joseph) and senior Matthew Ginnetti (Pipersville, Pa./Holy Ghost Prep) tied for 10th with a mark of 3.55m.
The Royals will be back in action on Saturday, Jan. 20 for the Moravian Indoor Meet that is slated to begin at 10 a.m.
