READING, Pa. – Freshman Tony Hairston (Scranton, Pa./Scranton) set a new program record in the triple jump as The University of Scranton men's track & field team competed at the Plex Shootout on Saturday at host Alvernia University.
Below are some of Scranton's highlights from the meet.
- Hairston posted a mark of 13.26m on his fourth attempt, eclipsing the previous program record of 13.09m that had been set by Mark Merli on Feb. 15, 2020.
- Sophomore Christian Snee (Olyphant, Pa./Mid Valley) recorded a sixth place finish in the mile with a time of 4:30.11 and freshman Angel Perez (Fairfield, Conn./Fairfield Prep) finished eighth in a time of 4:33.10. Both times marked personal-bests for the duo.
- In the 4x400 relay, the Royals' quartet of junior Riley Adams (Douglassville, Pa./Berks Catholic), sophomore Brendon Arcara (Chester Springs, Pa./Owen J. Roberts), senior Nathan Bowen (Trumbull, Conn./Trumbull) and freshman Christopher Dertinger (Staten Island, N.Y./Monsignor Farrell) finished sixth with a time of 3:44.83.
- Senior Liam Mead (Montrose, Pa./Montrose) took home eighth place in the 5,000 meters as he crossed the finish line in 16:01.16.
The Royals are back in action on Feb. 18 at the SU Tune Up Meet that will be hosted by Susquehanna University beginning at 10 a.m.
