NEW YORK, N.Y. – Junior Angelo Catapano (Massapequa Park, N.Y./Massapequa) won the weight throw to lead the way for The University of Scranton men's track & field team on Friday night at the NYU Invitational that was held at the Armory in Manhattan.
Here are some of the standout performances for the Royals on Friday.
- Catapano won the weight throw with a personal-best mark of 12.75m and sophomore Stefen Pastor (Middle Village, N.Y./Maspeth) took fourth place in the event at 10.72m.
- Sophomore Brendon Arcara (Chester Springs, Pa./Owen J. Roberts) posted a fourth place finish in the long jump with a mark of 6.12m and freshman Brendan Perez (Warwick, N.Y./Warwick Valley) took fifth in the triple jump at 10.93m.
- On the track, junior Tim Lanahan (Mendham, N.J./Mendham) finished seventh in the mile with a personal-best time of 4:24.31 and graduate student Luke Shannon (Rockville Centre, N.Y./South Side) added an 11th place finish in the 800 meters with a personal-best time of 1:58.19.
- Junior Riley Adams (Douglassville, Pa./Berks Catholic) also broke a program record in the 200 meters with a time of 23.66 seconds.
The Royals are right back in action tomorrow at the Frank Colden Invitational that will be hosted by Ursinus College beginning at 9 a.m.
