COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – Sophomore Brendon Arcara (Chester Springs, Pa./Owen J. Roberts) won the pentathlon with 2,469 points to lead the efforts for The University of Scranton men's track & field team on Saturday at the Frank Colden Invitational that was hosted by Ursinus College.
Below are some of Scranton's highlights from the meet.
- Arcara won the pentathlon against a field of nine other competitors as he finished in the top two in three of the five events. He won the 60 meter hurdles in 9.49 seconds, captured the long jump with a mark of 5.73m and matched his personal-best mark in the high jump as he took second at 1.55m.
- Senior Nicholas Gershey (South Abington Township, Pa./Scranton Prep) finished seventh in the 3,000 meters with a personal-best time of 9:11.28.
- Elsewhere for Scranton, fellow senior Kevin Duffy (Springfield, N.J./Seton Hall Prep) finished 12th in the high jump with a mark of 1.58m and sophomore Christian Snee (Olyphant, Pa./Mid Valley) took 14th in the 800 meters in 2:04.54.
The Royals return to the track next Saturday, Feb. 11, for the Plex Shootout that will be hosted by Alvernia University beginning at 8 a.m.
