Men's and Women's Track & Field Competes on Day One of Jim Taylor Invite

SELINSGROVE, Pa. – Several members of The University of Scranton men's and women's track & field team competed in both the hammer throw and shot put on Friday to begin action at the Jim Taylor Invite that is being hosted by Susquehanna University this weekend.

Here are some of the highlights for the Royals on Friday.

  • Junior Angelo Catapano (Massapequa Park, N.Y./Massapequa) finished 13th in the hammer throw with a personal-best mark of 40.93m and also set a personal-best in the shot put as he finished in 25th place with a mark of 10.58m.
  • For the women's team, junior Alex Ferrador (Hazlet, N.J./Raritan) finished in 15th place in the shot put with a mark of 10.64m on her second attempt and graduate student Katherine Fafian (Staten Island, N.Y./Notre Dame Academy) finished 25th in the hammer throw at 36.06m.

Action will resume at the Jim Taylor Invite on Saturday at 9 a.m.
