MECHANICSBURG, Pa. – Four members of The University of Scranton men's and women's track & field teams wrapped up action in the Decathlon and Heptathlon on Friday at the Starry Athletic Complex on the campus of Messiah University.
For the men's team, sophomore Brendon Arcara (Chester Springs, Pa./Owen J. Roberts) broke his own program record in the decathlon as he finished in ninth place with 4,324 points. On Friday, Arcara finished fifth in the 110 meter hurdles with a time of 17.33 seconds and also added a seventh place finish in the 1500 meters with a personal-best time of 5:24.24.
On the women's side, junior Jessica Tsu (Valley Stream, N.Y./Valley Stream North) took 17th place with 2,736 points, freshman Alicia Acosta (Northvale, N.J./Northern Valley-Old Tappan) finished 18th with 2,678 points and graduate student Ally Maniscalco (Deer Park, N.Y./Deer Park) finished 19th with 2,568 points.
Acosta finished 11th in the 800 meters on Friday with a personal-best time of 2:44.99 and Tsu added a 13th place finish in the long jump with a mark of 4.59m.
The Royals will compete in the Messiah Invitational on Saturday with action getting underway at 10 a.m.
