BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Graduate student Shane McKeon (Royersford, Pa./Pope John Paul II) won gold in the 3,000 steeplechase for the second straight year and The University of Scranton men's track & field team wrapped up action on Day Two of the Landmark Championships on Sunday at Moravian University.
The Royals finished fifth in the team standings with 67 points as Susquehanna captured the team title with 264 points.
- McKeon won the 3,000 steeplechase with a season-best time of 9:32.03.
- Scranton took the second and third place spots in the 800 meters as junior Tim Lanahan (Mendham, N.J./Mendham) finished second in 1:55.22, just ahead of graduate student Luke Shannon (Rockville Centre, N.Y./South Side) who finished third in a personal-best time of 1:55.47. Sophomore Christian Snee (Olyphant, Pa./Mid Valley) took sixth in the event in a personal-best clip of 1:57.05.
- Senior Nicholas Gershey (South Abington Township, Pa./Scranton Prep) added a bronze medal finish in the 5,000 meters as he finished third with a personal-best time of 15:24.12.
- Elsewhere on the track, junior Shervin Mokhtari (Clarks Summit, Pa./Abington Heights) finished sixth in the 400 meter hurdles in 57.52 seconds and senior Nathan Bowen (Trumbull, Conn./Trumbull) took seventh in the 400 meters with a program-record time of 51.47 seconds. Bowen's time broke the previous record that had been set by Stephen Grunbok on Apr. 7, 2018.
- The quartet of Bowen, Snee, Lanahan and Shannon added a fourth place finish in the 4x400 relay with a program-record time of 3:27.24.
- Sophomore Brendon Arcara (Chester Springs, Pa./Owen J. Roberts) placed eighth in the triple jump for the Royals with a leap of 12.33m.
Scranton returns to action on May 17-18 for the AARTFC Outdoor Championships that will be hosted by Susquehanna University.
