Scranton 10, Haverford 3

The Royals took the lead with a five-run sixth inning and added three more runs in the eighth as part of the 10-3 victory.

Senior Jack Heineman (Abington, Pa./LaSalle College) tied the game at three with an RBI double in the sixth and later scored on junior Jake Elston's (New Milford, Conn./Canterbury School) go-ahead RBI triple that made it a 4-3 game. Fellow senior Pat Coyne (Randolph, N.J./Morristown-Beard) delivered a two-run double later in the frame and classmate Nick Reposa (Factoryville, Pa./Tunkhannock) came through with an RBI single.

Riley Grohowski was dealt the loss for Haverford as he allowed five runs on seven hits to go along with a walk and five strikeouts over 5 1/3 IP.

Senior southpaw Jason Carpenter (Scranton, Pa./Scranton) fanned four over 1 2/3 shutout IP of relief and notched the victory for the Royals.

Haverford led 2-0 until the fourth inning when Elston knocked in a run with an RBI single and scored from first on sophomore Vincent Napolitano's (Merrick, N.Y./Kellenberg Memorial) RBI double that tied the game with two apiece.

The Fords regained the lead in the top of the fifth before Scranton took control of the game with the afore-mentioned five-run sixth.

Three consecutive hit by pitches issued to Elston, Napolitano and Coyne gave the Royals a 10-3 advantage in the eighth.

Along with Carpenter, sophomore righty Aidan Rumain (Martinsville, N.J./Immaculata) and junior righty Dominic Chieffalo (Norristown, Pa./Malvern Prep) both tossed two scoreless frames of relief. Sophomore righty Logan Mason (Flemington, N.J./Hunterdon Central) struck out one in a scoreless ninth to preserve the victory.

Chieffalo has now begun the season with three straight scoreless outings.

Elston, Napolitano and Coyne all recorded two hits apiece in the victory.

Franklin & Marshall 9, Scranton 2

The Diplomats built an early lead with eight runs in the first inning and Scranton dropped a 9-2 decision in the contest.

AJ Desautels delivered the big blow in the eight-run first for Franklin & Marshall with a three-run double and Jakob Hoffman added an RBI single.

Senior lefty Matthew Moreira (Union, N.J./Saint Peter's Prep) was dealt the loss for Scranton as he was charged with six runs on three hits.

In the bottom of the second inning, senior Matthew Querey (Wilmington, Del./Salesianum) led off with a single, took second on a wild pitch and scored on fellow senior Brendan Douthit's (Monroe, N.Y./John S. Burke Catholic) RBI double to put the Royals on the board.
