BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The University of Scranton softball team (18-18, 2-12 Landmark) dropped a pair of contests to the Moravian Greyhounds (25-8, 13-3 Landmark) in Landmark Conference doubleheader action on Saturday at Blue & Grey Field in Bethlehem.
Moravian won game one by a score of 7-3 and then captured a 4-2 decision in the nightcap.
Moravian 7, Scranton 3
The Greyhounds scored in each of the first three innings and held on for the 7-3 win in game one of the doubleheader.
Madi Cunningham knocked in a run with an RBI single in the second inning and Sage Snyder hit a three-run blast in the third to give the hosts a 5-0 lead for the time being.
Scranton would not go quietly and battled back with three in the fifth to draw within a pair at 5-3 as freshman Celia Totaro (Flemington, N.J./Hunterdon Central) knocked in a run with an RBI single, senior Jessica Stadler (Monmouth Junction, N.J./South Brunswick) brought home a run with a sac fly and sophomore Emmie Feltenberger (Pottstown, Pa./Owen J. Roberts) added an RBI single of her own.
However, Moravian was able to answer with two runs in the home half on a pair of RBI singles to stretch the lead to 7-3.
Freshman Juliana Janezic (Southington, Conn./Cheshire Academy) was dealt the loss for Scranton as she allowed five runs (four earned) on six hits while walking one in four innings of work.
Cunningham recorded the win for Moravian in a complete game effort after giving up three runs on eight hits to go along with a walk and five strikeouts in 7.0 IP.
Junior Hannah Keane (Randolph, N.J./Randolph) and senior Sarah Stepnowski (Monroe Twp., N.J./Monroe) had two hits apiece for the Royals.

Moravian was able to finish the doubleheader sweep with a 4-2 victory in the nightcap.
The Royals got on the board with a run in the top of the first when Totaro led off with a single, stole second and scored on Stadler's RBI single.
A pair of runs in the bottom of the second gave the Greyhounds a 2-1 lead before Stepnowski tied the game at two with a solo shot in the third. The home run was Stepnowski's third of the season.
In the home half of the fifth, a double and single put two runners before Emily Silberman gave Moravian a 4-2 lead with a two-run single.
Sophomore Soleil Dooner (Doylestown, Pa./Central Bucks East) allowed four runs on 12 hits while fanning a pair in five innings of work and was dealt the loss for the Royals.
Natalie Otto gave up two runs on seven hits to go along with six strikeouts over 7.0 IP and registered the win for the Greyhounds.
Stadler (2-3, RBI) tallied a multi-hit game, while junior Emma Tirollo (Orange, Conn./Amity Regional) tossed a scoreless inning in relief with one strikeout.
Scranton will head to Marywood on Monday afternoon for a doubleheader with first pitch of game one set for 3 p.m.
