SCRANTON, Pa. – The University of Scranton women's swimming team turned in a number of strong individual and relay performances on Saturday afternoon but fell to Gettysburg College, 182–80, in dual meet action at the Byron Recreation Complex.
The Royals opened the meet with a solid second-place finish in the 400-yard medley relay, as Alyssa Bean, Kimberly Gingrass, Campbell DeLuca, and Hailey Wilcox combined for a time of 4:09.22.
In distance events, Aviah Dahlgren led Scranton with a third-place finish in the 1000 free (11:09.49) and a victory in the 200 backstroke (2:15.82). Olivia Thomas added a fourth-place showing in the 1000 free (11:16.38).
Gingrass had a standout afternoon, placing second in both the 200 free (2:00.00) and 500 free (5:23.13), while DeLuca followed closely in third in both events (2:02.28 / 5:24.32).
Amelia Griffin picked up a victory in the 100-yard freestyle, touching first in 55.56, and also earned runner-up honors in the 50 free (25.65). Wilcox added a third-place finish in the 100 free with a time of 56.62.
In the 100 breaststroke, Sami Roerig led Scranton with a third-place time of 1:13.18, while Meredith Sulman added a fifth-place finish (1:14.00). Bean continued her strong day with a third-place result in the 200 fly (2:17.61) and a runner-up finish in the 100 fly (1:01.61).
The Royals wrapped up the meet with a second-place finish in the 200 free relay, as Gingrass, Griffin, Wilcox, and Dahlgren stopped the clock at 1:41.25.
