Kranson & Bennett Pace No. 3 Lady Royals in 106-53 Victory Against Goucher

SCRANTON, PA -- The University of Scranton women's basketball team took down Goucher College 106-53 in Landmark Conference action on Saturday afternoon at the John Long Center.

The Basics
  • Final Score: No. 3 Scranton - 106, Goucher - 53
  • Records: No. 3 Scranton (19-0, 12-0 LC), Goucher (12-7, 5-7 LC)
  • This marks the third time this season that Scranton has scored 100 points or more. 
How it Happened
  • Junior Kaci Kranson scored the first 12 points of the game for Scranton and the Lady Royals held a 12-4 lead with just over six minutes remaining in the first period. 
  • Sophomore Elizabeth Bennett drilled a three at the 4:57 mark to put Scranton up 17-4 and force Goucher to call a timeout. 
  • Sophomore Natalie Stoupakis and graduate student Maddie Hartnett hit threes late in the opening period as Scranton held a 35-14 lead headed into the second. 
  • Scranton out scored Goucher 24-20 in the second period and held a 59-34 lead at halftime. 
  • Kranson forced a steal on Goucher's first possession of the second half and scored an easy lay up on the other end. The play sparked an 8-0 run for the Lady Royals. 
  • Scranton went on a 9-0 run midway through the third period to take a 36 point lead (78-42) with 1:51 remaining in the third quarter.
  • The Lady Royals dominated the fourth quarter, out scoring the Gophers 26-9 to close out the win. 
Top Performers
  • Kranson dropped a game-high 25 points to go along with eight boards. This marks her third straight game scoring 25 or more. 
  • Bennett added 19 points and a season-high nine boards off the bench. 
Inside the Box Score
  • Scranton dominated the glass, out rebounding Goucher 67-34.
  • Scranton's bench scored 60 points in the victory.
