SCRANTON, PA -- The University of Scranton baseball team dropped its season opener to Ursinus College at Volpe Field on Wednesday, 9-5.
The Basics

How it Happened
- The Bears scored a run in the top of the second but the Royals answered quickly in the bottom of the second as junior Aidan Casey singled to center field to score junior Vincent Napolitano and senior Jake Elston to put Scranton up 2-1.
- Pete Balos of Ursinus hit a solo home run over the left field wall in the top of the fourth to tie the game up at 2-2. The Bears added two more runs off of errors in the fourth to take a 4-2 lead.
- Ursinus tacked on three more runs in the top of the fifth and two runs in the top of the sixth to hold a 9-2 advantage.
- Napolitano singled to score junior John Heitzman and senior Pat Coyne while advancing senior Jake Elston to second base. Elston would score later in the inning to bring the score to 9-5 in favor of the Bears.
- Neither side got on the board in the final three innings and Ursinus went on to win, 9-5.
Top Performers
- Casey and Napolitano each drove in two runs for Scranton.
- Junior Logan Mason recorded an RBI.
