The University of Scranton women's basketball team won its 10th straight Landmark Conference title with a dominating 85-62 victory over Catholic University last weekend and is now set to host the first two rounds of the NCAA Tournament beginning Friday, March 7 at the John Long Center.

- Friday's first game features Bates College (16-9) and Southern Virginia University (26-2) at 4:15 p.m.
- In the second game, Scranton (26-1) will host Mount Saint Mary College (NY) (17-10) at 6:45 p.m.
- The two winners from Friday's games will play on Saturday, March 8 at 6:45 p.m. in the John Long Center.
- The winner of Saturday night's game will advance to the Sweet 16.

No. 3 Scranton
- Record: 26-1
- Scranton, ranked No. 3 in the NCAA Division III Rankings, defeated Catholic on Saturday to win its 10th consecutive Landmark Conference title dating back to the 2015-16 season.
- The Lady Royals have won 29 straight games at home.
- Scranton ranks first in the country with 45.6 points against per game, seventh in the nation in offensive points per game with 79.5, and second behind NYU in scoring margin at 33.9.
- Head coach Ben O'Brien is in his third season at Scranton and has a career record of 82-5. During O'Brien's tenure, the Lady Royals have won three consecutive Landmark Championships, and made an appearance in the Elite Eight in 2023-24.
Lady Royals to Watch
- Junior Kaci Kranson, the Landmark Conference Player of the Year and an All-Conference first team selection this year, ranks second in the Landmark Conference with 17.3 PPG. Kranson scored 14 points in the semifinal win against Drew and 17 points in the championship victory over Catholic.
- Junior Kaeli Romanowski has started in every game this season and is second in the conference with 85 steals and 101 assists. Romanowski earned the Landmark Conference Playoffs Most Valuable Player after tallying a career-high 15 assists with 12 rebounds and six points against Catholic in the title game. Earlier this week, Romanowski was named Second Team All-Landmark Conference.
- Sophomore Elizabeth Bennett earned Second Team All-Conference honors this season and averages 11.9 PPG off the bench for Scranton. Bennett has scored in double figures 16 times this season, including a career-high 28 points in a win against Moravian University on Jan. 15.
- Sophomore Meghan Lamanna averages 10.8 PPG and has recorded 32 steals and 49 assists in 27 games played this season. Lamanna went 5-8 from three and scored a game-high 21 points in the championship game against Catholic.
Mount Saint Mary College (NY)
- Record: 17-10
- Mount Saint Mary won the Skyline Conference Championship in a thrilling overtime victory, upsetting Merchant Marine to win its 15th Skyline Conference Championship in program history.
- The Knights were tied atop the Skyline Conference with an 18.3 scoring margin, and rank second with 70.5 points per game and 51 points allowed per game.
- Marion Deitz is in her second season as the head coach of the Knights after taking over prior to the 2023-24 season. Deitz has led the Knights to a 35-19 record over the last two seasons and a Skyline Conference title this year.
Knights to Watch
- Brianna Guglielmo ranks fourth in the Skyline Conference with 64 steals, leads the Knights with 10.5 points per game and 140 rebounds, and is third on the team with 55 assists. Guglielmo, a Skyline All-Conference First Team selection this year, scored a career-high 29 points in the upset win over Merchant Marine in the championship game.
- Angelina Donato is fifth in the Skyline Conference in assists with 85 and tallied 33 steals while averaging 6.7 points per game in 26 games played this year.
- Freshman Maggie Trinkaus leads the Knights with 13 blocks and is tied for second on the team with 130 rebounds. Trinkaus averages 7.8 points per game and has 31 steals and 36 assists this season.
NCAA Tournament History
- Scranton is hosting the first two rounds of the tournament for the 11th consecutive year and is making its 37th NCAA Tournament appearance in program history.
- Mount Saint Mary is making its 16th NCAA Tournament Appearance in program history, and the first since they made it to the second round in 2021-22.
