SCRANTON, PA -- The University of Scranton baseball team defeated Drew University 16-5 by mercy rule in seven innings in a Landmark Conference contest at Volpe Field on Wednesday.

How it Happened
- Scranton put of three runs on four hits in the bottom of the second, including an RBI single from sophomore Jake Lopez and a two RBI single by freshman Joey Granko.Â
- In the bottom of the fourth inning, the Royals scored five runs on five hits to take an 8-0 lead. The huge inning featured a three run homer over the right field wall from junior John Heitzman.
- Scranton tacked on four more runs in the bottom of the fifth with a two RBI double from junior Conor Campbell and an RBI double from Heitzman.
- Drew scored all five of their runs in the top of the sixth inning on six hits.
- The Royals added to the tally in the bottom of the sixth with four runs on two hits. Heitzman capped off the inning with a two RBI single to put Scranton ahead 16-5.
- The Royals held Drew scoreless in the top of the seventh to end the game by mercy rule, 16-5.
Top Performers
- Heitzman had an impressive day at the plate, batting 4-5 with a season-high six RBI and his second home run of the year.Â
- Junior Aidan Casey, Campbell, and Granko each recorded 2 RBI.
