Scranton Women's Basketball Posts Dominant Win Against Lycoming, 104-29

SCRANTON, Pa. – The University of Scranton women's basketball team remained unbeaten on Wednesday with a dominant 104-29 victory over Lycoming College at the John Long Center.

  • The 75-point victory marked Scranton's largest margin of victory since 1989 and the fourth-largest in program history.

How It Happened

  • The Royals came out firing with aggressive defense that sparked several forced turnovers, leading to a 15-0 run in the opening minutes. Katie Gorski opened the scoring, followed by early buckets from Kaeli Romanowski and Kaci Kranson to set the tone early. 
  • Meghan Lamanna knocked down a three to cap the 15-0 surge and adding coast to coast layup. Kranson and Gorski continued to lead the attack at the basket helping the Royals build a commanding lead 25-5 at the end of the first. 
  • Romanowski brought the energy and lead the defensive effort with 7 steals in the first half energizing the team on both ends of the court. 
  • The scoring continued in the second quarter with multiple layups by Kranson, with Lamanna and Romanowski three pointers to balance the attack. 
  • Elizabeth Bennett's all-round play highlighted in the first half contributed to their lead, with a rebound putback, strong in the paint finishing and a three pointer in the final seconds allowing the Royals to lead 50-15 at the half. 
  • Kranson opened the second half with two three pointers and a long string assist to Gorski as the offense exploded to stretch the lead 80-20 by the end of the third. 
  • In the fourth Natalie Stoupakis started the quarter with a reverse layup and aggressive ball movement leading to finishing by Gabriella Murphy and Lizzie Halligan to keep the momentum rolling. 
  • Selena Cieszko pushed the team past 100 at the line, and the Royals capped it off to seal a dominate 104-29 win.
