Scranton Women's Basketball Completes Unbeaten Regular Season with 78-40 Win at Catholic

 WASHINGTON, D.C. -- The University of Scranton women's basketball team capped off an unbeaten regular season with a 78-40 road win at Catholic University on Saturday afternoon.

  • The Lady Royals will be the top seed in the Landmark Conference Tournament and have secured a first round bye along with hosting rights throughout the playoffs.
How it Happened
  • Scranton raced out to a 12–4 lead to open the game, as Meghan Lamanna and Kaci Kranson each knocked down a three-pointer to spark the Lady Royals' fast start. Kranson paced Scranton with eight first-quarter points, helping the Lady Royals build a 21–13 advantage heading into the second. Along with their sharp perimeter shooting, Scranton generated easy opportunities in the paint and capitalized at the free-throw line in the opening period.
  • The Lady Royals took full control in the second quarter, outscoring Catholic 24–8. Katie Gorski set the tone with strong finishes inside, while Lamanna remained hot from beyond the arc. Kaeli Romanowski added a three midway through the quarter, and Lamanna buried two more late in the half as Scranton extended its lead to 45–21 at the break.
  • Kranson continued her strong play in the third, scoring the first five points of the half, including her second three-pointer of the game. Kaitlyn Raguso and Jenna Sloan contributed late baskets as Scranton maintained a 24-point cushion entering the fourth quarter.
  • The Lady Royals closed the game in dominant fashion, outscoring Catholic 20–6 in the final period. Scranton opened the quarter on a 16–2 run, highlighted by seven points from Romanowski. Lamanna added her fifth three-pointer midway through the frame, and the Lady Royals cruised to a commanding 78–40 victory.
