The University of Scranton baseball team dropped the first game of the season series against Susquehanna University, 5-2, on Friday evening at Volpe Field in Scranton.

How it Happened
- Scranton struck first with two runs in the bottom of the opening inning to grab a 2-0 lead. Joey Granko brought home Conor Campbell with an RBI groundout for the game's first run. John Heitzman followed with a double and came around to score one batter later when Hunter Petrich lined a single into left field to plate the second run of the frame.
- The River Hawks answered in the top of the fourth against Scepkowski, who had kept them hitless through the first three innings. Two singles and a hit-by-pitch loaded the bases for Susquehanna before Lucas Zachesky delivered an RBI single to right to cut the deficit to one. Luke Goodwin then followed with a two-run single to give the visitors a 3-2 advantage.
- Susquehanna added two insurance runs in the seventh on a Michael Gagliardi double, extending the lead to 5-2.
- After their two-run first, the Royals were held in check the rest of the way. Josh Domaracki tossed 7.2 innings, allowing just the two early runs while striking out seven, and Austin Ozarowski recorded the final four outs to secure the 5-2 win for the River Hawks.
