The University of Scranton men's cross country team opened their season with a first-place finish at the Misericordia Invitational on Friday evening. The Royals scored 38 points en route to victory, led by Junior Brayden Clarke, who placed first with a time of 12:38.70.

Sophomore Luke O'Brien placed seventh with a time of 13:12.40, and classmate Cullen Clarke followed in 13:22.30. 
Scranton's top five was rounded out by:

• Stephen Kelly (10^th place – 13:23.70)
• Dylan Walsh (11^th place – 13:28.60)
• Vincent Calamia (12^th place – 13:23.60)

The Royals will return to action on Saturday, September 12 at the Kutztown Invitational.
