Biography

  • Four-year letter-winner who is the only baseball player in Landmark Conference history to earn All-Landmark Conference First Team honors four times.
  • Played in 149 games, including 145 starts, all in center field.
  • Posted a .369 average with 219 hits, the most hits on record in school history.
  • Finished with 44 doubles, nine triples, four home runs, 137 runs, 101 RBIs and 47 stolen bases.
  • Posted a .493 slugging percentage and a .437 on-base percentage.
  • Was one of the best defensive outfielders in the region during his career.

Senior Year (2018)

  • Played in 41 games, including 40 starts, in center field.
  • Hit .359 and led the team with 61 hits, 49 runs and 20 stolen bases.
  • His 61 hits are the second-most in a single season in program history, his 49 runs are tied for third-most and his 20 stolen bases are fourth-most.
  • Also had 12 doubles, three triples, three home runs and drove in 28 runs.
  • Walked 21 times, was hit by a pitch seven times and struck out only nine times while posting a .447 on-base percentage, second-best on the team.
  • His .518 slugging percentage was second-best on the team.
  • Hit safely in 35 of 41 games, including a 14-game hitting streak to start the season.
  • Had two or more hits 16 times, including seven games with three or more hits.
  • Went 4-for-6 with two triples, three RBIs and a run scored in a 12-6 win over Messiah on March 12.
  • Finished 5-for-6 with a double, a home run, three RBIs and a run scored in a thrilling 11-10 win over Moravian in 11 innings on April 29.

Junior Year (2017)

  • Hit .346 with 13 doubles, three triples, a team-high 35 runs, 29 RBIs and 11 stolen bases. The 13 doubles are tied for sixth-most in a single season on record in program history.
  • Struck out just six times while posting a .389 on-base percentage and a .471 slugging percentage.
  • Had 53 hits, tied for sixth-most on record in a single season in program history. 
  • Hit safely in 29 games, including 17 multi-hit games.
  • Scored a run in 24 games, including eight games with two or more.
  • Singled, doubled, scored a run and drove in a run in a 9-4 win over fourth-ranked Keystone on March 4 in Owings Mills, Md.
  • Went 5-for-5 with two doubles, three RBIs and three runs in a 17-9 win over Gallaudet on March 12 in Fort Myers, Fla.
  • Went 3-for-4 with a triple, two runs and an RBI in an 8-6 win over MacMurray on March 13 in Fort Myers, Fla.
  • Went 4-for-9 with three doubles, four RBIs, two runs and two stolen bases in a pair of losses to Elizabethtown on April 2 at Connell Park.
  • Tripled, singled twice, drove in three and scored three runs while stealing a base in a 15-10 win over William Paterson on April 18 at PNC Field.
  • Singled, doubled, drove in two and scored twice in a 6-4 win at Marywood on May 1.

Sophomore Year (2016)

  • Played in 35 games, all as a starter in center field, earning first-team all-Landmark Conference honors.
  • Hit .370 with nine doubles, a triple, 25 runs, 26 RBIs and 11 stolen bases.
  • Had four hits, two runs, two RBIs and a stolen base in an 18-14 win over Elizabethtown on March 23.
  • Went a combined 5-for-8 with four runs, four RBIs, a walk and a stolen base as the Royals split a doubleheader with Catholic on April 2, losing 10-7 and winning 17-8.
  • Went 3-for-5 with a triple, two RBIs and a run in an 11-0 win over Merchant Marine Academy on April 13.
  • Had three hits, including a double, along with four runs, an RBI and a stolen base in a 7-5 win over Juniata in the first game on April 16.
  • Went 3-for-4 with a double and three RBIs in a 7-1 win in the second game at Susquehanna on April 23.
  • Had three hits, an RBI and a stolen base in a 10-8 loss at Susquehanna on April 24.
  • Went a combined 5-for-8 with three doubles, two walks, two RBIs, two runs and a stolen base as the Royals dropped both ends of a doubleheader at Drew, 7-6 in 11 innings and 9-3, on April 30.

Freshman Year (2015)

  • Earned Landmark Conference Rookie of the Year and first-team honors.
  • Played in 35 games, including 33 starts, hitting .404 with 10 doubles, two triples, a home run, 28 runs, 18 RBIs and five stolen bases.
  • Finished second in the Landmark Conference in batting average, on-base percentage (.471) and fifth in slugging percentage (.529).
  • Hit safely in 27 games, including 19 games with multiple hits.
  • Opened the season with a nine-game hitting streak and had a 11-game hitting streak later in the season that included nine multi-hit games.
  • Singled twice and drove in a run in his collegiate debut in a 6-4 loss in 10 innings to Muhlenberg on March 6 in Myrtle Beach, S.C.
  • Went 4-for-5 with a double and a run in a 5-3 win in eight innings in the first game against Moravian on March 22.
  • Went 3-for-4 with a double, four RBIs, three runs and a stolen base in a 22-13 win at Elizabethtown on April 1.
  • Went 3-for-4 with two runs in a 7-2 win in the second game at Merchant Marine on April 4.
  • Was a combined six-for-13 with a home run, four RBIs, two runs and a stolen base in a three-game sweep of Susquehanna on April 18-19.
  • Went a combined 6-for-9 with two doubles, four runs, an RBI and a stolen base in a three-game sweep of Drew on April 25-26.
  • Was 8-for-15 with a double, three runs and a walk in the three-game Landmark Conference semifinal series against Catholic on May 2-3.

  • Earned 10 varsity letters -- four in soccer, three in baseball and three in basketball.
  • Helped Cranford baseball post a combined record of 65-12 over his three seasons.
  • Was a part of Cranford's 2012 and 2013 New Jersey Group III state championship teams. Also helped the Cougars win the North II Section 3 and Union County Conference championships in those seasons.
  • Also helped Cranford win the 2013 Union County championship.
  • Finished with a career batting average of .439, a career on-base percentage of .519, along with 104 career hits and 44 career RBIs.
  • As a senior, he earned second-team all-state honors, first-team all-Union County honors while being named Union County Player of the Year, and received the Edward R. Cooper Memorial Award as the Outstanding Baseball Player of Union County.
  • As a junior, he was named a Union County All-Star, a New Jersey Garden State Baseball Underclassmen All-Star, first-team all-Union County Conference Watchung Division, second-team all-Union County, third-team all-state Group III, a JSFBL All-Star, and was named to the World Championship All-Tournament Team.
  • Is the son of Tom and Kathy Trotter.
  • Has three brothers -- Brian, Sean and Kevin.
