Huy Nguyen

Huy Nguyen has been named the first head coach of The University of Scranton men’s volleyball program ahead of its first season of competition in 2026-27.

Nguyen brings a strong background in program building and player development across the high school, club, and collegiate levels. He currently serves as the head coach of both the boys’ and girls’ volleyball programs at Wilkes-Barre Area High School, where he has led the boys’ team to consecutive district final appearances and developed multiple all-star selections. He oversees all aspects of the programs, including scheduling, fundraising, and coordinating development across varsity and middle school levels.

At the collegiate level, Nguyen previously served as the head women’s volleyball coach at Penn State Wilkes-Barre. During his tenure, he rebuilt the program from one student-athlete to a 12-player roster and guided the team to its first playoff appearance in 10 years while expanding its competitive schedule.

Nguyen is also the founder and head coach of Dub City Sports, a club program he grew from one team to three, overseeing multiple age groups and managing a staff of coaches. In addition, he has coaching experience with NUVA Volleyball Club, where he focused on skill development and athlete performance.

In addition to coaching, Nguyen serves as a paraprofessional at Wilkes-Barre Area High School, where he supports students and helps foster a positive learning environment. He is known for his commitment to student-athlete development, competitive excellence, and building strong team cultures.
