The University of Scranton took out some frustration against Goucher College in its season finale Saturday afternoon at Fitzpatrick Field.

Scranton, which missed qualifying for the Landmark tournament for the first time in four years, exploded for five goals in the first half en route to a convincing 6-1 victory.

The win was the third straight for the Royals, who end their 2010 season with a 7-10-1 overall record, including a 2-5 mark in the conference.

Senior forward Michael Drew (Sellersville, Pa./Lansdale Catholic) put the Royals on the board in the 11th minute when he chipped home an aerial ball played for ward by senior defender Zach Buckheit (Baldwin, N.Y./Long Island Lutheran). Sophomore midfielder Bill McGuiness (Forty Fort, Pa./Wyoming Valley West) scored the Royals's second goal off a magnificently taken free kick from 20 yards out following a foul drawn by sophomore forward Corey Radel (Holland, Pa./Council Rock) in the 33rd minute.

Radel nodded home a goal of his own just over a minute later off an assist from Buckheit.  The goal was his third of the season. The Royals added two more goals before halftime, both coming off the foot of sophomore midfielder Colin McFadden (Ventnor City, N.J./St. Augustine Preparatory).  Both goals were assisted on by junior midfielder Joseph Burbella (Stroudsburg, Pa./Stroudsburg).

The Gophers fired back with a goal of their own when junior Elijah Lais (Grantsville, Md./Norther Garrett) shot past Royal goalkeeper Justin Frick (Columbia, N.J./North Warren Regional) off an assist from senior forward Andrew Bull (Doylestown, Pa./ Central Bucks West).

Freshman forward John Spadaro (Stony Point, N.Y./Albertus Magnus) wrapped up the scoring for Scranton with his second goal of the season in the 70th minute.

Frick and senior goalkeeper Brandon Dombrowski (Hockessin, Del./Selesianum) combined for five saves, while freshman keepers Joe Kon (Powell, Ohio/Olentangy Liberty) and David Spivey (Brooklandville, Md./Park School) combined for five saves for Goucher.
