BETHLEHEM, Pa.—The University of Scranton volleyball team
split a pair of matches today in the second stage of Landmark
Conference round-robin play.
The Royals lost to five-time defending champion Juniata College,
3-0, this afternoon, but came back this evening to down the
Merchant Marine Academy, 3-0. Scranton is now 17-11 overall
and 2-4 in the Landmark Conference.
Against Juniata, sophomore outside hitter Julia Crilly (Rochester, NY/Aquinas Institute)
and senior Jenell McFadden (Springfield, Pa./Merion Mercy
Academy) combined for 11 of the Royals' 15 kills and
McFadden and senior libero Marissa Every (East Norriton, Pa./Mt.
St. Joseph Academy) combined for 23 digs.
McFadden put away 13 kills and finished with five digs and senior
setters Juli
Woods (Wallingford, Pa./Strath Haven) and Emily Keim (Bethlehem, Pa./Liberty) combined
for 27 of Scranton's 28 assists in the win over the Merchant
Marine Academy.
The Royals will return to action tomorrow afternoon at 1:30 p.m.
against Moravian College.
