DALLAS, Pa.—The University of Scranton volleyball team is now
one win away from posting 20 wins in a season for the first time
since 2008, after defeating Misericordia, 3-1, and Arcadia, 3-1, in
non-conference action today.
Sophomore outside hitter Julia Crilly (Rochester, NY/Aquinas Insitute)
recorded her team-leading 17th ‘double-double’ of the
season with 18 kills and 11 digs and senior outside hitter
Jenell McFadden (Springfield, Pa./Merion Mercy
Academy) finished with 11 kills and 12 digs, her 10th
double-double of the year, in the win over Misericordia.
Senior setters Juli
Woods (Wallingford, Pa./Strath Haven) and Emily Keim (Bethlehem, Pa./Liberty) combined
for 38 assists and senior libero Marissa Every (East Norriton, Pa./Mt. St.
Joseph) finished with 15 digs and three service
aces. As a team, the Royals recorded 10 service aces and
seven blocks, including three each by Crilly and freshman middle
hitter Rachael Cisto (Oxford, Conn./Sacred Heart
Academy).
Crilly and McFadden combined for 18 kills and 12 digs and junior
middle hitter Kelly
Nolan (Pearl River, NY/Albertus Magnus) contributed
three kills and three blocks in the win over Arcadia.
McFadden’s 19 kills today brings her career total to 1100,
which is fifth on the Royals’ all-time list. Woods also moved
into fifth-place in assists in Scranton history with 2,025.
The Royals, now 19-12, will return to action this Tuesday, October
22, against Penn State-Berks campus in Reading, Pennsylvania,
beginning at 7:00 p.m.
