Junior outside hitter Julia Crilly (Rochester, NY/Aquinas Institute)
did her part to make sure The University of Scranton volleyball
team salvaged a much-needed split in Landmark Conference
round-robin play today at Susquehanna University.
Crilly finished with 17 kills and 19 digs to lead the Royals to a
3-1 victory over Moravian College, snapping a season-long nine
match losing streak and improving to 6-19 overall and 1-3 in the
Landmark Conference.
Earlier today, the Royals dropped a 3-0 loss to Catholic University
despite a 15-kill, 11-dig effort from Crilly. Senior outside
hitter Michaela McCrudden (Fort Washington, Pa./Mt. St. Joseph
Academy) and freshman libero Victoria Reilly (Bay Shore, NY/Bay Shore)
combined for 25 digs, freshman setter Bailey Woods (Wallingford, Pa./Strath Haven)
finished with 26 assists, and sophomore middle hitter Rachael Cisto (Oxford, Conn./Sacred Heart
Academy) had five total blocks.
In the win over Moravian, Crilly got help from Cisto, who had nine
kills and three blocks, senior middle hitter Kelly
Johnson (Pearl River, NY/Albertus Magnus), who
contributed six blocks, Woods, who came up with 13 digs and had 34
assists.
Crilly recorded her ninth and tenth ‘double-double’ of
the season in kills and digs today to bring her career total to
42. She also moved into a tie for sixth place on the
Royals’ all-time list for most kills with 1089.
Johnson’s seven blocks in two matches today also moves her
into 11th place in Scranton history with 230.
The Royals will return to action Thursday, October 10, against
Misericordia University beginning at 7:00 p.m. in the Long
Center. The match is open to the public and admission is
free.
