Tim LeCompte (Philadelphia, Pa./Roman
Catholic), a senior infielder on the baseball team, has
been named The University of Scranton Athlete of the Week for the
period ending Sunday, May 5.
LeCompte is honored for his role in the Royals’ dramatic 6-5
victory over top-seeded Catholic University in 11 innings on
Sunday, May 5, in a Landmark Conference tournament elimination game
at Talbot Field in Washington, DC. The win vaults Scranton
into the championship bracket of the tournament today against
Moravian College.
With the Royals trailing 5-2 with two outs in the top of the ninth
inning, LeCompete ignited a three-run game-tying rally with a
two-run home run, then drove in the game-winning run in the top of
the 11th inning as Scranton advanced to the championship bracket
for the third time in the league’s six-year history.
In a 5-4 win over Catholic in the first game of the tournament,
LeCompte had two hits and drove in a run. He also had a hit
in the Royals’ 8-1 loss to Moravian College in a
winner’s bracket game Sunday afternoon.
For the season, LeCompte is batting .340, with 24 RBI, 12 doubles,
three triples, and a home run. He also has a .434 on-base
percentage and .489 slugging percentage.
