CLERMONT, Fla.—The University of Scranton softball team opened its 2014 season with a 9-2 loss to Wesleyan University (Conn.) in the first of an eight-game Spring Break trip Monday morning.

The Royals’ second game against Babson College this afternoon was suspended in the fourth inning due to inclement weather and will be completed Tuesday morning.

Wesleyan jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning and broke it open with a four-run rally in the sixth to improve to 5-4 on the season.

Freshman Kaitlin O’Sullivan (Bensalem, Pa./Nazareth Academy) paced Scranton with two hits, including a double, and senior Caitlin McHenry (Cortlandt Manor, NY/Walter Panas) and freshman Angelica Titor (Bellrose Village, NY/Floral Park Memorial) each belted a double.

In addition to completing the Babson game tomorrow, the Royals will meet Dubuque (Iowa) at 5 p.m. and Endicott at 7:00 p.m.
