CLERMONT, Fla.—The University of Scranton softball team
opened its 2014 season with a 9-2 loss to Wesleyan University
(Conn.) in the first of an eight-game Spring Break trip Monday
morning.
The Royals’ second game against Babson College this afternoon
was suspended in the fourth inning due to inclement weather and
will be completed Tuesday morning.
Wesleyan jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning and broke it
open with a four-run rally in the sixth to improve to 5-4 on the
season.
Freshman Kaitlin O’Sullivan (Bensalem, Pa./Nazareth
Academy) paced Scranton with two hits, including a double,
and senior Caitlin McHenry (Cortlandt Manor, NY/Walter
Panas) and freshman Angelica Titor (Bellrose Village, NY/Floral Park
Memorial) each belted a double.
In addition to completing the Babson game tomorrow, the Royals will
meet Dubuque (Iowa) at 5 p.m. and Endicott at 7:00 p.m.
