Junior forward Krista Osborne
(Blue Bell, Pa./Gwynedd-Mercy Academy) and senior
midfielder Alyssa Fania
(Annandale, N.J./North Hunterdon) both had three goals and
an assist to lead The University of Scranton field hockey team to a
9-0 victory over Keystone College on Saturday afternoon at
Fitzpatrick Field.
Junior forward Alyssa Whitman
(Bethlehem, Pa./Saucon Valley) added a pair of goals and
freshman forward Sierramarie
Fitzgerald (Hackettstown, Pa./Hackettstown) also
scored as the Royals had their largest offensive output since a 9-0
victory over Neumann on August 31, 2008.
The Royals also received assists from senior forward Cassie Mullen
(Chester Springs, Pa./Villa Maria Academy) and sophomore
forward Ana Bisciello (New
Hyde Park, N.Y./New Hyde Park Memorial) in the
victory.
Scranton (2-0) held a commanding 40-2 advantage in shots over
Keystone (1-1), and a 9-1 advantage in penalty corners. Keystone
junior goalkeeper Nichole Blank (Schwenksville, Pa./Boyertown) kept
the Royals from reaching double digits by making 15 saves in 57
minutes in goal, and the Giants also had two defensive saves.
Scranton is now 6-1 all-time against Keystone, including wins in
each of the past five seasons.
The Royals return to action on Saturday, Sept. 6, when they host
cross-town rival Marywood at 4 p.m. at Fitzpatrick
Field.
