READING, Pa.—The University of Scranton field hockey team kept the pressure on early and often against Albright College Thursday evening.
The Royals scored twice in the first half, on goals by juniors Krista Osborne (Blue Bell, Pa./Gwynedd-Mercy) and Alyssa Whitman (Bethlehem, Pa./Saucon Valley), then added insurance goals by sophomore Liz Franko (Falls, Pa./Tunkhannock) and freshman Sierramarie Fitzgerald (Hackettstown, NJ/Hackettstown) on their way to a 4-0 victory.
Scranton dominated the Lions from the get go, holding an 12-2 advantage in shots in the first half and 26-2 overall to move to 5-0 for the second straight season. The Royals have now out-shot their first five opponents, 141-26, while out-scoring them, 29-0.
Scranton also received assists tonight from junior Meghan Kearney (Broomall, Pa./Cardinal O’Hara) and seniors Alyssa Fania (Annandale, NJ/North Hunterdon) and Cassie Mullen (Chester Springs, Pa./Villa Maria Academy).
Senior goalkeeper Gabby Frake (Bristol, Pa./Bristol) made 11 saves for Albright, which dropped to 0-5 on the season.
The Royals will take the weekend off and return to action next Wednesday, September 17, against Misericordia University in Dallas, Pennsylvania.
