Men's Soccer Drops Regular Season Finale at Elizabethtown, 2-0

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. - The University of Scranton men's soccer team fell in their 2015 regular season finale at No. 18 Elizabethtown on Saturday afternoon, dropping a 2-0 decision in Landmark Conference play on the road.

With the loss, Scranton ends the regular season with an 8-6-2 overall record, 4-2-2 in the Landmark. Elizabethtown ends the year perfect in the regular season in Landmark play at 8-0, and are now 16-1-1 overall with the victory.

In the defeat, Scranton kept Elizabethtown off the scoreboard for much of the first half, but the Blue Jays were able to get a goal right before intermission in the 43rd minute to take a 1-0 lead in the half.

In the second period, the go-ahead score for Elizabethtown came in the 58th minute, as from there the host Blue Jays coasted, with Scranton only taking three total shots in the second 45 minutes of play.

Overall, junior goalie Eric Hintz (South Windsor, Conn./South Windsor) was able to keep Scranton in it all match, making four saves on the afternoon. Sophomore A.J. Nardone (Dallas, Pa./Dallas) also fired four shots in the defeat, two of which were on goal.

The Royals will now set their sights on the 2015 Landmark Conference Tournament, where they will enter play at the number two seed.

The semifinal round will be hosted at Fitzpatrick Field by Scranton, where they will take on third-seeded Susquehanna on Tuesday night at 7 p.m. In the teams' match-up in the regular season on September 26, they battled to a 1-1 double overtime draw in Scranton.
