Senior Krista Osborne (Blue Bell, Pa./Gwynedd Mercy Academy) scored twice in the second half to make her Senior Day a memorable one, but The University of Scranton field hockey team could not hold off Elizabethtown in the closing minutes, falling to the Blue Jays, 3-2, in the regular season finale at Fitzpatrick Field.

Scranton (13-4, 4-3 Landmark) will enter next week's Landmark Conference playoffs as the no. 4 seed and will take on the top-seeded Blue Jays in a semifinal on Wednesday, Nov. 4, at 2:30 p.m. in Elizabethtown, Pa.

Osborne had quite a day, scoring back-to-back goals in a nine-minute span to turn a 1-0 deficit into a 2-1 lead with less than 10 minutes to play. Her first goal in the 52nd minute came off a pass from fellow senior forward Alyssa Whitman (Bethlehem, Pa./Saucon Valley). And Osborne's goal in the 61st minute was also assisted by a fellow senior, this time defender Jessica Pankey (Pompton Lakes, N.J./Pompton Lakes).

But Elizabethtown (10-6, 6-1 Landmark) had the final say, scoring in the 66th and 69th minutes to pull out the victory.

Osborne's two goals give her 12 on the season and 37 for her career, which rank seventh in program history. She now has 31 points this season, 14th-most in a single season in school history, and 90 for her career, which rank sixth in Royals history.

The first half was a defensive slugfest with only five shots total, four by the Royals. The second half started off much the same until Elizabethtown broke through in the 51st minute. Osborne scored 50 seconds later to knot the match and the offenses continued to click from there.

The Royals finished with an 8-7 edge in shots, but Elizabethtown had a 7-5 edge in penalty corners.

Prior to the start of the game, Scranton held Senior Day ceremonies, honoring its eight seniors – Osborne, Whitman, Pankey, forward Bryn Frankhouser (Plymouth Meeting, Pa./Plymouth-Whitemarsh), forward Ana Bisciello (New Hyde Park, N.Y./New Hyde Park Memorial), forward Lara Haab (Gladwyne, Pa./Country Day School Sacred Heart), midfielder Meghan Kearney (Broomall, Pa./Cardinal O'Hara) and midfielder Lauren deQuintal (Nazareth, Pa./Nazareth).
