ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. - The University of Scranton field hockey team saw their 2015 season come to an end on Wednesday afternoon, as host and top-seeded Elizabethtown beat the fourth-seeded Royals, 2-0, in the Semifinals of the 2015 Landmark Conference Tournament.
With the defeat, Scranton ends their 2015 campaign with a 13-5 overall record. Elizabethtown improved to 11-6 with the victory and move onto the Landmark Conference Championship match on Saturday.
In the first period of the contest, the host Blue Jays scored two goals in the first period to essentially put the Royals away, as Elizabethtown scored in the 31st minute, then at the end of regulation in the period to go up 2-0 at halftime.
That lead was sustained by Elizabethtown over the final 35 minutes of action, as Scranton took just six shots on the afternoon, three of which were on goal.
Despite today's loss, the Royals still ended their 2015 campaign posting one of their best overall records in program history, as Scranton went into double-figures on victories for the fifth straight season. The team also won 13 games in a season for the second straight year, as well.
