Men's Soccer Falls at Misericordia, 1-0

DALLAS, Pa. - A goal by host Misericordia early in the second period proved to the be difference, as the University of Scranton men's soccer team dropped a tough 1-0 decision to the host Cougars on Tuesday night.

With the defeat, the Royals fell to 2-3 overall on the year, while Misericordia improved to 3-1-1 with the win.

In the first half, Scranton was able to outshoot Misericordia by a 5-2 margin and had two shots on goal. Unfortunately for the Royals, both shots on goal were saved, as the match remained deadlocked in a scoreless tie after the first 45 minutes of action.

In the 50th minute, the Cougars broke the tie with a goal on the first shot taken by either team in the period. Despite their best efforts throughout the half, including firing two shots in the final 10 minutes of action, the Royals couldn't find the equalizer in the defeat, as their final attempts on net were blocked.

Overall, junior Tim DiBisceglie (Mine Hill, N.J./Gill St. Bernard's School) took three shots on the evening, one of which was on goal. Junior goalie Eric Hintz (South Windsor, Conn./South Windsor) kept the Royals in it all night, making two saves overall on the evening.

The University of Scranton men's soccer team will now take an eight-day break from action, returning to the pitch on Wednesday, September 23 when they host Ithaca at Fitzpatrick Field. Things get underway at 4 p.m.
