Junior midfielder Kelly Egan (Essex Fells, N.J./West Essex Senior) and freshman midfielder Erica Licari (Saint James, N.Y./Smithtown East) both had a goal and two assists, and seven different players scored goals as The University of Scranton women's soccer team stormed to a 7-1 victory over Marywood on Wednesday evening at Fitzpatrick Field.

The Royals (3-2-1) overcame a 1-0 deficit in the first minute by scoring three times in a five-minute span midway through the first half. Egan broke the ice when she curled a shot into the upper right corner of the goal in the 22nd minute after picking up a loose ball at the top of the penalty box.

Egan then connected with junior defender Carolyn Warner (Morris Plains, N.J./Parsippany Hills) with a perfect corner kick in the 26th minute for Warner's second goal of the season. Less than a minute later, sophomore forward Samantha Wargo (Kings Park, N.Y./St. Anthony's) scored on a feed from Licari to make it 3-1.

Licari scored in the 43rd minute on a feed from fellow freshman midfielder Taylor Stevens (Yardley, Pa./Villa Joseph Marie) for her first career goal and third career assist for Stevens.

Freshman forward Annelise DePaulo (Roseto, Pa./Moravian Academy) kept the offensive surge going in the second half when she scored her first career goal in the 57th minute on a feed by Licari.

Senior Jasmine Sconciafurno (Woodland Park, N.J./Passaic Valley), a standout defender, got into the act in the 69th minute when she headed home a corner kick by senior midfielder Michaela Arbus (Pequannock, N.J./DePaul Catholic) for her first career goal. And sophomore midfielder Casey Trezza (New Providence, N.J./New Providence) completed the scoring in the 81st minute with her first career goal when her header on a corner kick by Egan found the back of the net just inside the near post.

Licari now leads the Royals with four assists while Egan picked up her first two assists of the season and now has 12 for her career. Licari, Egan and Wargo are tied for the team lead with six points each.

The Royals held a commanding 30-4 edge in shots as 17 different players had at least one. Scranton also had an 11-1 advantage in corner kicks.

Scranton is back in action on Saturday, Sept. 19, when the Royals go on the road to face Farmingdale State at 1 p.m. in Farmingdale, N.Y.
