SWARTHMORE, Pa. – The University of Scranton women's volleyball team went 1-1 on the final day of the Garnet Classic on Saturday at Swarthmore, defeating Stockton, 3-0, before falling to Catholic, 3-1.

Sophomore outside hitter Kristin Kirwan (Park Ridge, N.J./Immaculate Heart Academy) was named to the all-tournament team after a big day on Saturday. She helped the Royals (18-15) defeat Stockton (19-12), 25-15, 25-21, 25-15, by totaling 12 kills, 12 digs and three block assists. In the 18-25, 15-25, 25-22, 19-25 loss to Catholic (22-10), she finished with 19 kills and seven digs.

In the Royals' four matches in the event, Kirwan finished with 52 kills, 43 digs and four block assists.

In the win over Stockton, Scranton also received 11 kills and four digs from sophomore outside hitter Megan Monastra (West Chester, Pa./Villa Maria Academy) and 37 assists and nine digs from senior setter Brittany Cafiero (Merrick, N.Y./Kellenberg Memorial).

In the match against Catholic, Cafiero finished with 44 assists and 14 digs. Sophomore middle hitter Catherine Manning (Eastchester, N.Y./Eastchester) had eight kills and four block assists, and Monastra added seven kills, three block assists and a dig.

Cafiero's 81 assists on Saturday give her 2,983 for her career, leaving her 17 away from becoming the fourth player in Scranton women's volleyball history to reach 3,000 in a career. Her 888 assists this season are the second most in her career and 10^th most in Royals' history.

Scranton will return to action on Wednesday, Oct. 26, when the Royals host SUNY-Geneseo on Senior Day at 7 p.m. in the Long Center.
