SCRANTON, Pa. – The University of Scranton women's soccer team scored twice early in the second half to pull away en route to a 4-0 victory on the road against crosstown rival Marywood on Thursday evening.

The Royals (3-1-1) led 1-0 at halftime before scoring in the 51st and 59th minutes to take full control. The win keeps Scranton undefeated in six matchups against Marywood dating back to 2011. In those six games, the Royals have outscored the Pacers, 26-1.

Sophomore midfielder Brittany Uricchio (Glastonbury, Conn./Glastonbury) got the Royals on the board in the 15th minute with her second goal of the season on an assist from junior forward Kelly Pompey (Scranton, Pa./Scranton Prep), her first of the season.

Scranton came out of halftime and immediately put pressure on Marywood (0-4-1), eventually drawing a penalty kick in the 51st minute, which sophomore midfielder Erica Licari (Saint James, N.Y./Smithtown East) converted for a 2-0 lead, her first goal of the season.

Eight minutes later, sophomore midfielder Jamie Hreniuk (West Caldwell, N.J./James Caldwell) scored her second goal of the season on an assist from Licari, also her first. Hreniuk now has a team-leading five points (two goals, one assist) on the season.

Junior defender Meredith D'Angelo (Hatboro, Pa./Gwynedd Mercy Academy) capped the scoring with her first career goal on a header off a corner kick by senior midfielder Kelly Egan (Essex Fells, N.J./West Essex). Egan's assist was her second of the season and 19th of her career, tied for 11th-most in school history.

The Royals held a commanding 20-3 edge in shots, including 10-1 in shots on goal. They also took seven corner kicks while allowing none.

Scranton will return to action when it plays its home opener on Saturday, Sept. 17, against Farmingdale State at 1 p.m. at Fitzpatrick Field.
