Junior forward Meredith Campbell (Media, Pa./Archbishop Carroll) scored twice in the first half and sophomore forward Elizabeth Tolley (Brookside, N.J./West Morris Mendham) added a goal as The University of Scranton defeated Keystone, 3-0, at Fitzpatrick Field on Saturday for its first win of the season.
Campbell scored in the sixth minute when she deflected a ball played in by sophomore midfielder Cyan Scarduzio (Ossining, N.Y./Ossining). She made it 2-0 in favor of the Royals (1-1) in the 28th minute when she again redirected the ball into the cage, this time on an assist by sophomore midfielder Katherine McVeagh (Flourtown, Pa./Springfield Township).
Tolley provided the final goal of the game in the 32nd minute when she outhustled the Keystone defense to tap in a shot from point-blank range. McVeagh picked up the assist on the play for her second of the game.
Scranton did not allow a shot defensively while taking 25 shots on the offensive end. The Royals 19 penalty corners to just one for Keystone (0-2).
The Royals will be back in action on Wednesday, Sept. 7, when they host William Paterson at 7 p.m. at Fitzpatrick Field.
