MAHWAH, N.J. - The University of Scranton volleyball team remained unbeaten on the 2017 season on Friday night at the Roadrunner Invitational on the campus of Ramapo, as the Royals rolled past Mt. St. Mary and St. Joseph's (L.I.), besting both in three sets.
With the victories, Scranton is now 12-0 on the year.

In their first match of the evening, the Royals dispatched Mt. St. Mary in quick order, winning in three sets to move to 11-0 on the year, marking the best start for a University of Scranton volleyball team to a season in program history.
In the win, the Royals were led on the attack by senior Kristen Sweeney (Yorktown Heights, N.Y./Yorktown Heights), who had a match-best nine kills, while sophomore Victoria Capogna (Farmingdale, N.Y./St. Anthony's) had seven kills, hitting .500 in the process.
Freshman setter Kindler Norman (Pittsburgh, Pa./Upper St. Clair) was impressive again with 33 assists, while Sweeney posted 11 digs on defense. Sophomore Jenna Nason (Manorville, N.Y./Eastport South Manor) also went into double-figures on digs with 10 to round out the top performers for Scranton in their first match of the night.

It was more of the same for the Royals in the nightcap, as they moved to 12-0 after making quick work of St. Joseph's in straight sets.
In the win, freshman Jillian Graham (Wantagh, N.Y./Wantagh) led a balanced attack, finishing with nine kills.
Fellow freshman Kyra Bevenour (Sicklerville, N.J./Washington Township) had 30 assists, while another freshman, Regina Schetroma (Downingtown, Pa./Downingtown West) led the defense with 21 digs. Bevenour also finished with 11 digs in the victory, as well.
The University of Scranton volleyball team returns to action on Saturday, traveling to Muhlenberg to take on the host Mules at 11 a.m., then Stockton at 1 p.m.
