SELINSGROVE, Pa. – The road to the Landmark Conference women's soccer championship will once again come through Scranton as The University of Scranton secured the top seed in the postseason tournament with a 1-0 victory at Susquehanna on Saturday.

Sophomore Corinne McDonald (Chalfont, Pa./Central Bucks South) scored the game's only goal in the 70th minute off an assist from freshman Hope Drewes (Yardley, Pa./Pennsbury) as the Royals (13-0-2, 6-0 Landmark) extended their season-opening win streak to 15 games, their longest since the 2003 squad went 22-0-1 before falling in the third round of the NCAA Tournament.

Senior goalkeeper Colleen Berry (Ridgewood, N.J./Ridgewood) made four saves to record her seventh solo shutout of the season and 20th of her career.  The clean sheet was also the 11th overall for the season for the Royals, who have yet to concede a goal in Landmark Conference play.

Scranton had the better of play in the first half of Saturday's contest, outshooting Susquehanna (11-3-2, 4-1-1 Landmark) by a 5-2 margin, but neither team was able to find the back of the net in the battle between the top two teams in the conference standings.

The chances were more even in the final 45 minutes of play with the River Hawks holding a 6-5 edge in shots, but McDonald's fourth goal of the season would prove to be the difference as the sophomore's goal with 20:01 remaining in regulation would stand as her second game-winning goal this fall.

Drewes set up the goal to pick up her third assist of the season for the Royals, who held a 10-8 advantage in shots for the game along with a 5-2 lead in corner kicks.

Scranton returns to the pitch on Tuesday night as it welcomes Penn State Berks to Weiss Field for a non-conference match starting at 7 p.m.
