READING, Pa. – Albright used two goals separated by just 41 seconds in the second half of Wednesday night's non-conference field hockey game against The University of Scranton to defeat the Royals, 2-0.

The Lions lift their record to 5-6 on the season with their second straight shutout victory while Scranton slips to 9-2 on the year after being held scoreless for the first time this season.

Scoring chances were limited for both teams in the first half on Wednesday night with Albright holding a slight 4-3 edge in shots during the period, but a trio of saves from Scranton sophomore goalkeeper Jenna Cyr (Coopersburg, Pa./Southern Lehigh) and a defensive save from junior Caroline Mullen (Chester Springs, Pa./Villa Maria Academy) kept the game scoreless.

The Royals nearly went in front just over two minutes into the second half, but a shot from junior Gracie McClatchy (Havertown, Pa./Archbishop Carroll) hit the post.

Albright broke the deadlock with 18:31 left in regulation, as a deflected shot by a Lions' attacker beat Cyr for the game's first goal.

The hosts doubled their lead just 41 seconds later by scoring on a penalty stroke and Scranton was unable to mount a comeback over the final 17:50 of the contest.

Cyr finished the evening with three saves while Mullen's first defensive save of the season was her second of her career.

Both teams were credited with seven shots apiece on the evening with the Royals holding a 6-5 edge in penalty corners.

Scranton resumes Landmark Conference play at home on Saturday against Moravian.  Game time between the Royals and Greyhounds is set for 1 p.m. at Weiss Field.
