The University of Scranton volleyball team enjoyed its most dominating performance of the season on Tuesday evening, cruising to a three-set sweep over Cortland in the John Long Center.  The Royals lift their record to 7-3 with the non-conference victory and now hit the road for their next 10 matches.

Scranton broke away midway through the first set to pull away for a 25-15 victory in the opening set before taking a 2-0 advantage with a  dominant, 25-14 triumph in set two.  The Royals completed their third sweep of the season with a 25-16 win the third game.

Catherine Manning (Eastchester, N.Y./Eastchester) recorded eight kills on 19 attacks, Kristin Kirwan (Park Ridge, N.J./Immaculate Heart Academy) put down eight kills on 22 attack, and Megan Monastra (West Chester, Pa./Villa Maria Academy) added seven kills on 22 attacks to power Scranton's offense in the win.

Kindler Norman (Pittsburgh, Pa./Upper St. Clair) led all players with 19 assists through the first two sets before Kyra Bevenour (Sicklerville, N.J./Washington Township) took over the setting duties in the third frame and dished out eight helpers.

Regina Schetroma (Downingtown, Pa./Downingtown West) picked up a team-best 11 digs for the hosts while Kristin Bush (Cortland, N.Y./Cortland) led all players with three service aces.

The Royals finished with a 34-19 advantage in kills for the match while serving up 11 aces to just two for Cortland.  The Red Dragons, now 4-5 on the season, finished the night with a 50-42 edge in digs.

Scranton will take part in the Knights Invitational hosted by Neumann this coming weekend.  The Royals open the tournament on Friday with matches against Haverford (6 p.m.) and Cabrini (8 p.m.).
