Box Score vs. Oswego State

POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. – The University of Scranton split a pair of five-set matches on Saturday to finish the Vassar Invitational with a 3-1 record. The Royals (6-3) dropped a five-set decision to Oswego State before rebounding to defeat Vassar in five sets in its final match of the weekend.
Match 1 vs. Oswego State
In Saturday's opening match against the Lakers (5-3), Scranton took the early edge with 25-20 win in set one before Oswego State used 26-24 and 25-21 decisions to take a 2-1 edge. The Royals forced a fifth set by bouncing back for a 25-21 win in game four, but the Lakers took the match with a 15-12 win in the decisive set.
Kristin Kirwan (Park Ridge, N.J./Immaculate Heart Academy) totaled a match-high 24 kills to lead the Royals while Catherine Manning (Eastchester, N.Y./Eastchester) added 11 kills.
Kindler Norman (Pittsburgh, Pa./Upper St. Clair) led all players with 24 assists, just one helper more than Kyra Bevenour (Sicklerville, N.J./Washington Township).
Regina Schetroma (Downingtown, Pa./Downingtown West) picked up 24 digs and was joined in double-figures for digs by Kristin Bush (Cortland, N.Y./Cortland) (19) and Kirwan (15).
Kirwan and Schetroma added three aces apiece for Scranton, which hit .202 as a team in the loss compared to a .185 effort by the Lakers.
Match 2 vs. Vassar
Scranton jumped out to a 2-0 lead against the host Brewers (4-4) in Saturday's second match with scores of 25-22 and 26-24, but Vassar fought back by claiming games three and four, 25-22 and 25-17, to set up another race to 15. This time, the Royals took control by taking a 15-9 decision to earn the split.
Kirwan powered down 20 kills to pair with 15 digs while Megan Monastra (West Chester, Pa./Villa Maria Academy) also recorded a double-double on 13 kills and 19 digs to go along with a match-high five aces.
Norman handed out a match-high 47 assists while Bush (19) and Schetroma (18) also reach double-figures in digs for the Royals.
Trinity Manning (Point Lookout, N.Y./Kellenberg Memorial) added seven kills for the Royals, who logged a .159 hitting percentage in the victory.

Scranton will return to the John Long Center on Tuesday evening to take on Cortland in a non-conference match set to begin at 6 p.m.
